Students often feel very nervous about taking a Speaking test. They worry about many things: • Not being able to understand what they have to do. • Not being able to remember what they have to do. • Running out of things to say. • Being asked to talk about something they know nothing about. • Not being able to find the words they need to express themselves. • Being interrupted by the examiner.
However, many students seem to enjoy the test once it has begun, they forget they are in an examination, and some even look surprised when it is over.

A) Choppy style – it is when you use only short, simple sentences. There is nothing wrong with simple sentences. Often they are the most effective kind of sentences you could use, but you must remember that simple sentences indicate main ideas. If you use all simple sentences, you are indicating that every idea is equally important. Because all ideas are not equally important, you must learn to subordinate and reduce predications to indicate relative importance. What predications should you subordinate or reduce? The following list should help you. These are things that should usually be subordinated or reduced.

The instructions will also tell them if an option can be used more than once and will remind them to transfer their answers to the Answer Sheet.
